SOLIDARITY MASKS
In Madrid, March 2020. The Covid-19 pandemic began to ravage more than half the world and we were in full quarantine.
While at home without sufficient means, we were devoted to ensure that our help had to continue to materialize. Because in AfrikAmiga we are more than an Association or NGO, we are a FAMILY united by the same dream.
Therefore, by using our African kitenge fabrics we started creating solidarity masks at a time when their use was even doubted. However, for us they were our safeguard, not only against Covid-19 pandemic but also thanks to them, we revived most of the dreams carried out during 2020.
With full of desire and enthusiasm, the first masks made with our inexperienced hands without a sewing machine, people loved and bought them right away as an act of donation with purchase. Although, paradoxes of life may suggest that because they were one of the first colorful masks to be seen in Spain, or perhaps because of the stories that buying each one of them helps to change someone’s life in Africa.
On the other part of our beautiful world, AfrikAmiga employed Ayubu in Tanzania to sew solidarity masks. He sewed 100 masks in record time, which we later distributed to the neediest families in Usa River, Arusha region in Tanzania.
Today we offer hygienic masks made of 100% organic cotton (kitenge), with an interior part made of approved sanitary cotton, with space for a filter, reusable and washable by hand or machine, and can be washed up to 25 times to a maximum of 30 degree. Choose the one you like the most, tell us through our email and we will make it expressly for you, and only someone like you.
